Luis-- reflecting on our obstacles /testimonies We were waiting for someone to answer the door (basic) and this friend marched up and we immediately started having such a meaningful conversation about overcoming addiction, the power of the word of God, and how each of us have to go through certain things in order to recieve a testimony. he acknowledged that he really needed to talk to someone in that moment, and confessed that, after 4 years of being completely sober, was about to drink for the first time. When he saw us he renewed his desire to stay strong and sober- so cool!! moments like these build my testimony and have really helped me see that God places us where we need to be. a funny thing that happened to us while we were tracting that really did not phase me but in hindsight I logically re evaluated the encounter and realized it was actually hilarious: so we knock on this door.  We see through the unveiled window a huge sheet covering a doorway inside this home. All we then see is a completely shirtless man wearing very short jorts peek through the sheet, then stride confidently to the door. He opened, we introduced ourselves, all he said was "I have something to show you. come with me." we readily explained that sir, we cannot come inside your house because that is a rule, sorry, but could he show us out here? "I'll go get it" he said  He returns with a confident stride, with a headlamp (?) strapped to his forehead (turned on), and carrying a HUGE, hard-cover, full-color bible, open to a very specific page.  He then proceeded to show us some actually really beautiful copies of renaissance paintings within the Bible! HELLOOOO I officially have a fleco aka STRAIGHT ACROSS BANGS and I love them!!! Basically this is a dream I have had for approximately several years but the homie who always cut my hair artistically disagreed with straight across bangs. Here I am, liberated by the independence of mission life over here in my happy place of Garland, TX, and I impulsively let my fav hermanita chop my hair!! hermana reyes was explaining how when she would go out with the missionaries every day in el DF she would trudge out in the mud in high heels and would just yell "ANTES MUERTA QUE SENCILLA" (these happen to be song lyrics) which means I would rather die than look simple. i love that hermana.  hii 'tis I!  we had a really fun week!  ¡la grua nos llevó el carro! :,( who is ready for overly detailed story time from Hermana Ras? one of the most fun, and most sacred weeks of my mission! Yippee! I am a happy hermana here in Garland, and I feel very watched over by my Heavenly Father and blessed!  Healed by Hna. Obregon So, one of my all-time fav hermanas came and anointed my back and the soles of my feet with a series of 10+ DoTerra oils twice this week before I drifted off to sleep! What can I say my cold is almost gone now! Just left with a gnarly croupy cough. I loved the talk because it helped me examine my motives for being on a mission. I love being a missionary because I just work work work work as hard as I can and meanwhile relax and confide in the fact that I am literally in the hands of the Lord- all my needs are met through Him and His church. HELLO my beloved family and friends, I am grateful for you all, and find myself all to quickly at the close of another magnificent week here in Glorious Garland.  I apologize for the necessary brevity of this email. Pday was a little too fun, and time management of today was, well, less than ideal.  Here are a few assorted highlights of the past week: - had a really powerful lesson with a really amazing friend we found, Matti!! Woah I really have high levels of love for this specific human, what a sweet experience. We had a nice lesson in a taco shop (basic) and it was really sweet to me because I was able to share an experience about recovering from a really hard time on my mission through the atoning grace of Jesus Christ.It was one of the first times I have been able to testify of that experience in a lesson, and it was really sweet to me. Hello my lovelies.  I am terribly sorry but I received a surprise visit from my best friend in the mission Hermana Lindsey Moorhead and really chose to catch up with her and brush up on our inside jokes over typing emails :-)  We had an amazing week, and I even received news that I will be staying in Garland/Richardson, I am elated !!!!!! Transfer 6 in Garland I am so lucky !!!!!!! I will be with hermana Mera for right now I luvs that lil pug We served in the temple and I was astonished by the level of exactness and cleanliness in every part of the temple reconstruction. I testify that that is the Lord's house, not ours.  Had a very fun exchange with Hna. LATA, and I am very sad bc she is leaving back to California tomorrow. I am happy to have become friends with her, she is loving and hilarious and deep!!
