THE FIRE THAT WILL END THE WORLD IS A COMPUTER | 12.2.19
a funny thing that happened to us while we were tracting that really did not phase me but in hindsight I logically re evaluated the encounter and realized it was actually hilarious:
so we knock on this door.
We see through the unveiled window a huge sheet covering a doorway inside this home. All we then see is a completely shirtless man wearing very short jorts peek through the sheet, then stride confidently to the door. He opened, we introduced ourselves, all he said was "I have something to show you. come with me."
we readily explained that sir, we cannot come inside your house because that is a rule, sorry, but could he show us out here?
"I'll go get it" he said
He returns with a confident stride, with a headlamp (?) strapped to his forehead (turned on), and carrying a HUGE, hard-cover, full-color bible, open to a very specific page.
He then proceeded to show us some actually really beautiful copies of renaissance paintings within the Bible! I cannot say I agreed with most of his interpretations of the artwork. We spent a good few minutes looking at his Bible, and we talked about Jesus and I asked him what his favoritecharacteristic about Jesus Christ was.
"he didn't owe anything to anyone, but He gave His life for us."
I loved this answer! A whole lot of wisdom there.
Our jorts clad friend then marched back into the house and tried to give us $40 cash which we refused gently.
We left him with a card and our simple testimonies!
to finish off strong he confided in us that he has beenworkingon a novel about Jesus Christ and Satan for 4.5 years, and will continue to work on it for 4.5 more years. He told us writing is very, very hard. and also told us his theory that the fire that has been professed to end the world will be a computer-- because everyone has computers attatched to them and it will destroy the world.
sometimes, missionary work can get a touch monotonous! so I am soooo happy when fun random moments like this unfold in my life!! Thankful for the laughs and fun times that are had daily!! B)
mija vino :-)
that's right, you read that correctly, the one and only Hermana Lunt has joined me in glorious Garland! How cute! Can someone say FAMILY REUNION AMIRITE
It has been cool to see how much she has bloomed, and how bomb her Spanish has become since we were companions almost a year (!!) Ago!!
the trifecta: past, present, and future/triangles/repentance
Such a sweet district counsel. Started out with construction of spaghetti and marshmallow towers, then we discussed the significance of triangles, since they were so crucial in building strong towers. Our mighty district leader elder Packham related the 3 sides of a triangle to the past, present, and future. We discussed how we can utilize each of these things for our good!
Past: remembering/drawing strength
Present: feeling the Holy ghost and being guided
Future: hope!
And then he sauced in another sweet concept about how Triangles also mean change (Greek delta amirite), and how we will be so much stronger as we are constantly changing aka repenting with the help of Jesus Christ!
I love love object lessons and my district and relating the Gospel to everyday life.
chicken soup for the... stomach
I made the best chicken soup that exists. Homemade chicken broth and homemade egg noodles with a secret ingredient. It rocked my entire universe and I absolutely adore cooking. Thanks Elder and Sister Camp for the recipie :D
Ky and Karina, finding the elect!
2 miracles, 2 friends found!!
On Friday, we went to the Animal Shelter to walk some dogs and found it closed. As we got back in the car and went to go put gas in the car, I had this feeling we should double check how many miles we had. Turns out, we had only FIVE left for the month, haha! So we tracted right close to where we are, in a rich white neighborhood, in the pouring rain. Was this ideal? Nopeskies. Were there miracles? Certainly!
We ended up meeting Ky, a phillipino man who had just gotten out of the hospital and was in a huge, self proclaimed "God Phase". He was extremely interested! He said he was going to order a Book of Mormon (we gave him one:)), wanted to makena donation, and said he was "a big fan". Excited to see where this goes! We had some awrsome text convos after and we sent him the come and see video when he asked about church. He said he wants to come to church before December is over!

Also we found Karina who is AMAZING and said she had already been praying and had a feeling that TWO SISTERS WERE GONNA COME BY THAT DAY AND PRAY WITH HER, LIKE WHAT? so inspired and she is so in tune and was so eager to learn. We love Karina.
DORMINGO
Basically just thought this was the funniest thing ever my buddy Hermano Reyes said it's called dormingo when you sleep in church and basically I laughed for approximately 20 minutes JAJA!!!
Hermana Huerta and I went to the Dallas Zoo today and it was extremely fun!
The spirit was felt, relationships built, Hispanic food cooked and consumed, the Gospel was preached, the scriptures read, and much more. An excellent week as a missionary :-)
