ANTES MUERTA QUE SENCILLA | 11.18.19

hermana reyes was explaining how when she would go out with the missionaries every day in el DF she would trudge out in the mud in high heels and would just yell "ANTES MUERTA QUE SENCILLA" (these happen to be song lyrics) which means I would rather die than look simple. i love that hermana.

hii
'tis I!
we had a really fun week!

¡la grua nos llevó el carro! :,(
who is ready for overly detailed story time from Hermana Ras?
Hermana Mera and I were heading over to the home of La Familia Orrosco because the hermana "nos iba a cocinar algo SABROSO". We even were very extra in parking in visitor's #legal. Sidenote, it also happened to be approximately 20 degrees and we parked on the ~opposite~ side of the complex :'). We entered into the lesson, consumed some amazing enchiladas rojos con chocolate abuelita y galletas marias, and taught them about Jesus Christ. This segment of the evening was excellent! We emerged, crossed the stretch of the complex in the freezing cold to find NO CAR THERE. ZERO. IT GOT TOWED.

so, we called our lovely Honduranean friend Milli, and she rescued us and drove us back home.

I called the towing company (LA GRUA) that night and found out they did, indeed, violate my beautiful parking job and drag the lovely Chevy Malibu a good 30 minutes to the outskirts of downtown Dallas.

so it goes. but I ended up meeting some fun friends from Missippi while waiting at the terrible boarded up shack covered in completely tinted glass where they took our money in exchange for opening the gate one time! so that was fun.

ROMANS 8... SO GOOD.
This chapter was very impactful to me when I read it. A really rewarding shift I have recognized in myself during my mission is the worth I give to words of those I trust, and sources I trust. In the past I would read a really beautiful scripture and not really react, but lately when I read a powerful promise or a striking phrase it really hits me hard, and I actually take it seriously, and it feels so real to me now. I am grateful to be at that point, where sacred writings, words of counsel from those I trust, and promptings I feel from God can have a really powerful, positive influence on me!
This chapter overall filled me with a humbly uplifting sense of comfort and sanctuary!! I know that God is with me, and that life goes so much better when I am working withHim, not against Him.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose"

MEXICAN HISTORY
We had a lively lesson last night with Hermano y Hermana Rodriguez and Matti. The spirit was very strong! And I was so happy to see how actually stoked Matti was to meet more members of our ward!! What was really cool about this lesson was we ended up discussing the history of the Mayans and the Aztecs, and the narratives Matti and Hermano Rodriguez had leanred in their history classes really enriched their understanding of the Book of Mormon!!
Something I love about the Gospel is how the more I learn about literally anything, the more it makes sense. So rewarding and makes me so excited to learn and expand!!

A CHALLENGE
do some blind contour line drawings!! Remember??? I have been very into journaling lately bc I got a beautiful new journal with VanGogh sunflowers on it :-))))) they are fun. or start knitting and we can be knitting buddies :)

I am grateful for all of you!! and wish you an excellent week full of opportunities, trying new things, and loving those God has placed around you!! it brings joy!!

con cariño,
