ANTES MUERTA QUE SENCILLA | 11.18.19

Image
hermana reyes was explaining how when she would go out with the missionaries every day in el DF she would trudge out in the mud in high heels and would just yell "ANTES MUERTA QUE SENCILLA" (these happen to be song lyrics) which means I would rather die than look simple. i love that hermana.  hii 'tis I!  we had a really fun week!  ¡la grua nos llevó el carro! :,( who is ready for overly detailed story time from Hermana Ras? Hermana Mera and I were heading over to the home of La Familia Orrosco because the hermana "nos iba a cocinar algo SABROSO". We even were very extra in parking in visitor's #legal. Sidenote, it also happened to be approximately 20 degrees and we parked on the ~opposite~ side of the complex :'). We entered into the lesson, consumed some amazing enchiladas rojos con chocolate abuelita y galletas marias, and taught them about Jesus Christ. This segment of the evening was excellent! We emerged, crossed the stretch of the...

RAINBOW LOOMS Y MILAGROS | 11.11.19

one of the most fun, and most sacred weeks of my mission! Yippee! I am a happy hermana here in Garland, and I feel very watched over by my Heavenly Father and blessed!  Healed by Hna. Obregon So, one of my all-time fav hermanas came and anointed my back and the soles of my feet with a series of 10+ DoTerra oils twice this week before I drifted off to sleep! What can I say my cold is almost gone now! Just left with a gnarly croupy cough. I am a HUGE advocate for my lovely Hispanic Brujita remedies  Work we must, but Lunch is Free A great talk my friend shared with me, by Hugh Nibley, who happens to be a personal favorite. I loved the talk because it helped me examine my motives for being on a mission. I love being a missionary because I just work work work work as hard as I can and meanwhile relax and confide in the fact that I am literally in the hands of the Lord- all my needs are met through Him and His church. No stinginess, no holding back, just pure faith and ...

THE VIRAL PLAGUE | 11.4.19

HELLO my beloved family and friends, I am grateful for you all, and find myself all to quickly at the close of another magnificent week here in Glorious Garland.  I apologize for the necessary brevity of this email. Pday was a little too fun, and time management of today was, well, less than ideal.  Here are a few assorted highlights of the past week: - had a really powerful lesson with a really amazing friend we found, Matti!! Woah I really have high levels of love for this specific human, what a sweet experience. We had a nice lesson in a taco shop (basic) and it was really sweet to me because I was able to share an experience about recovering from a really hard time on my mission through the atoning grace of Jesus Christ. It was one of the first times I have been able to testify of that experience in a lesson, and it was really sweet to me. Our Heavenly Father allows us to consecrate our trials for our benefit, and the benefit of those around us. that is...

Hello my lovelies.  I am terribly sorry but I received a surprise visit from my best friend in the mission Hermana Lindsey Moorhead and really chose to catch up with her and brush up on our inside jokes over typing emails :-)  We had an amazing week, and I even received news that I will be staying in Garland/Richardson, I am elated !!!!!! Transfer 6 in Garland I am so lucky !!!!!!! I will be with hermana Mera for right now I luvs that lil pug We served in the temple and I was astonished by the level of exactness and cleanliness in every part of the temple reconstruction. I testify that that is the Lord's house, not ours.  Had a very fun exchange with Hna. LATA, and I am very sad bc she is leaving back to California tomorrow. I am happy to have become friends with her, she is loving and hilarious and deep!! We had a lot of hilarious experiences.  Also discovered how to cook tostones and found 2 new families who are AMAZING and learned to dip ap...

TORNADOES AND 2X THE GOOD TIMES | 10.21.19

A very fun week! I am feeling sore, well fed, happy, and loved!  A REALLY GOOD TALK I LISTENED TO:  "Gifts of Love" by Henry B. Eyring, a BYU devotional. It hit me really hard, especially when it connected to Jesus Christ's ultimate gift of love at the end. I loved this talk a lot because it helped me formulate some ideas i have had lately about developing myself out of simply love for myself and out of a desire to serve others in the future. So sweet and I loved the way i felt as i listened to this great talk <3  https://speeches.byu.edu/ talks/henry-b-eyring/gifts- love/ A TORNADO DOWN THE STREET:  There was a tornado about 1/2 a mile from our home last night. Pretty scary. Being a slightly naive and sheltered missionaries we didn't really protect ourselves in any form but we realized the next norning that it was actually quite serious! the sky was PURPLE AND GREEN! Large quantities of lightning! Kind of a crazy night! DOUBLE THE AREAS TWICE ...

DRANK BABY FORMULA | 10.14.19

Image
HELLO my people!! wowowow what a week. really a whole lot of learning, and learning through teaching, and some crying and some indigestion and sickness and lots and lots of biking. This Hermana cannot complain! cheezin big through it all! DRANK BABY FORMULA not exactly sure what more I need to say. we were with Hermano y Hermana Reyes after church on Sunday at their house, and they whipped us up some fake chickory coffee, and Hermano Reyes slyly mixed in a heaping spoonful of "Nido" brand baby formula in there. Why? beats me.  was it good? no comment. okay fine I drank the whole mug. but still i drANK BABY FORMULA HAHAHAHA.  SICKY ICKY I took a day in and Hermana lata our sister training leader was also sicky so we made it a chill day. We took 5 hour naps, and i made homemade tortillas and refried beans and some proper breakfast burritos. I then discovered a tiny DVD player so we watched "Legacy" and "How Rare a Posession" while sipping...

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT VSCO GIRL MEANS | 10.7.19

Image
VSCOGIRL I told a young girl I liked her scrunchie and she simply replied by saying a jumble of words, none of which I understood. finally, she simply said "I'm a VSCOgirl" and I asked her what that meant and she just looked at me like I was crazy I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE YOUTHS ARE INTO THESE DAYS SO NATURALLY i asked a cool joven in our ward and she explained to me that it is a type of aesthetic?like wearing scrunchies and looking trendy? anyway, any further insight on this subject would be appreciated bc I am so confused.  PRIESTHOOD i learned a lot about the Priesthood this week, and it really blew my mind. God loves us and has literally provided us divinely ordained channels of letting His ability flow to us. HOW ASTONISHING.  i could go on and on but well I frankly do not have time :( read alma 13 and doctrine and covenants section 121 if you want to learn a lil more. also it was really sweet when President Nelson gave a sweet talk on women and the priesth...
