Hello my lovelies.  I am terribly sorry but I received a surprise visit from my best friend in the mission Hermana Lindsey Moorhead and really chose to catch up with her and brush up on our inside jokes over typing emails :-)  We had an amazing week, and I even received news that I will be staying in Garland/Richardson, I am elated !!!!!! Transfer 6 in Garland I am so lucky !!!!!!! I will be with hermana Mera for right now I luvs that lil pug We served in the temple and I was astonished by the level of exactness and cleanliness in every part of the temple reconstruction. I testify that that is the Lord's house, not ours.  Had a very fun exchange with Hna. LATA, and I am very sad bc she is leaving back to California tomorrow. I am happy to have become friends with her, she is loving and hilarious and deep!! We had a lot of hilarious experiences.  Also discovered how to cook tostones and found 2 new families who are AMAZING and learned to dip ap...

TORNADOES AND 2X THE GOOD TIMES | 10.21.19

Image
A very fun week! I am feeling sore, well fed, happy, and loved!  A REALLY GOOD TALK I LISTENED TO:  "Gifts of Love" by Henry B. Eyring, a BYU devotional. It hit me really hard, especially when it connected to Jesus Christ's ultimate gift of love at the end. I loved this talk a lot because it helped me formulate some ideas i have had lately about developing myself out of simply love for myself and out of a desire to serve others in the future. So sweet and I loved the way i felt as i listened to this great talk <3  https://speeches.byu.edu/ talks/henry-b-eyring/gifts- love/ A TORNADO DOWN THE STREET:  There was a tornado about 1/2 a mile from our home last night. Pretty scary. Being a slightly naive and sheltered missionaries we didn't really protect ourselves in any form but we realized the next norning that it was actually quite serious! the sky was PURPLE AND GREEN! Large quantities of lightning! Kind of a crazy night! DOUBLE THE AREAS TWICE ...

DRANK BABY FORMULA | 10.14.19

Image
HELLO my people!! wowowow what a week. really a whole lot of learning, and learning through teaching, and some crying and some indigestion and sickness and lots and lots of biking. This Hermana cannot complain! cheezin big through it all! DRANK BABY FORMULA not exactly sure what more I need to say. we were with Hermano y Hermana Reyes after church on Sunday at their house, and they whipped us up some fake chickory coffee, and Hermano Reyes slyly mixed in a heaping spoonful of "Nido" brand baby formula in there. Why? beats me.  was it good? no comment. okay fine I drank the whole mug. but still i drANK BABY FORMULA HAHAHAHA.  SICKY ICKY I took a day in and Hermana lata our sister training leader was also sicky so we made it a chill day. We took 5 hour naps, and i made homemade tortillas and refried beans and some proper breakfast burritos. I then discovered a tiny DVD player so we watched "Legacy" and "How Rare a Posession" while sipping...

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN WHAT VSCO GIRL MEANS | 10.7.19

Image
VSCOGIRL I told a young girl I liked her scrunchie and she simply replied by saying a jumble of words, none of which I understood. finally, she simply said "I'm a VSCOgirl" and I asked her what that meant and she just looked at me like I was crazy I NEED TO KNOW WHAT THE YOUTHS ARE INTO THESE DAYS SO NATURALLY i asked a cool joven in our ward and she explained to me that it is a type of aesthetic?like wearing scrunchies and looking trendy? anyway, any further insight on this subject would be appreciated bc I am so confused.  PRIESTHOOD i learned a lot about the Priesthood this week, and it really blew my mind. God loves us and has literally provided us divinely ordained channels of letting His ability flow to us. HOW ASTONISHING.  i could go on and on but well I frankly do not have time :( read alma 13 and doctrine and covenants section 121 if you want to learn a lil more. also it was really sweet when President Nelson gave a sweet talk on women and the priesth...

Hello, such a rejuvenating and powerful week!! I am glad to be in a time of my life when gratitude lists are extremely easy to formulate! ASTONISHING BBQ WITH GREAT FOLKS I ate Texas Barbeque for the first time of my mission this week, and it was an excellent experience! We were invited by our excellent English Class teacher, Brother Blaney (the same Brother Blaney who printed us John Wayne posters to put in our apartments) and were able to go with a lovely older couple from San Luis. We shared our reasons for being on our missions and a warm happy feeling was felt! It was very sweet and the brisket was deliciou...

HOSPITALITY AND NAMES | 9.23.19

an excellent week here in Garland!!! i got a new companion and she is simply a whole huge dose of laughter and charm. I like her a lot because she automatically helps us have immediate connections with all the hispanics and basically all people because she is just so charismatic, adorable, and kind. I am very blessed to be her companion!! she is also teaching me to cook many things, like horchata, fresas con crema, tacos, etc. Stay tuned!!!!  MIDDLE EASTERN HOSPITALITY over the past week and a half we have had the opportunity to be welcomed in to 2 different homes, both of which left a huge impression on me... they were both families who had recently immigrated from the Middle East. The first family we found were very recently moved from Iraq, and immediately let us in and let us share a message. I felt the spirit really strongly as we testified of God's love for them, and though our return appointment didn't pan out, I was so blown away by the amount of immediate accep...

THE TOWERS FALL | 9.16.19

the sad ending of this week with which I shall commence this weekly email: the twin towers are  no more.  My sweet glorious Hermana Moorhead shall be leaving me for the boonies of Mount Pleasant. I'm not crying, you're crying. many tears shed, and tight squeezes. She is truly bien noble. I shall remain here in Garland for another 6 weeks, for which I am glad.  ENDURANCE: A PRINCIPLE IN PROCESS so here is what I am learning lately.  I am an avid sport climber and I love the endurance aspect of the sport, always have. I love that moment on a climb when all of your strength is gone and you just keep going and you get this beautiful flow of strength out of basically nowhere. It's such a renewing and purifying moment... I guess I thought I was putting this feeling on pause for 18 months. However, finally, I have discovered that iT EXISTS IN SO MANY DIFFERENT REALMS OF MY LIFE.  exhibit A: running!!!!! each morning, I run on the t...

CALCULUS AND DEEP LOVE | 9.9.19

HELLO EVERYONE i am deeply apologetic as I have spent my P day cooking and playing and conversing and have left little time to gaze into this glowing rectangle of mine.  Let us just say I saw the hand of the Lord each day this week, and I know beyond the shadow of a doubt that God loves His children. I love being a missionary and I love you all.  Please enjoy the homemade edits I have composed.  Read Revelations 14: 6-7 and Isaiah 54:10  and tell me your thoughts!!! How did God know I needed exactly what He is giving me right now?  with a large quantity of amor from Garland,  Hermana Rasmussen
