ANOTHA ROUND | 6.24.19

I LOVE OAK CLIFF SO MUCH!!!
also, I apologize for the appalling lack of communication homeward on my part. My preparation days are generally filled with chatting with my family on the phone and aggressive spike ball tournaments. Sometimes writing a group email falls somewhere toward the bottom of my priorities on my laid back Mondays. 

Life is going very well over here in the south of Dallas!!! There has been a large quantity of happennings since I last wrote home. 

I got a new companion, Hermana Huerta!! She has helped me so much. Here are some of the following reasons why I love Hermana Huerta:
- she got me absolutely addicted to Lechera
- we make breakfast together
- she can make me laugh no matter what is going on
- she has been out for only 3 transfers, but every time she teaches the spirit is so incredibly strong 
- there are so many more reasons that I simply cannot verbalize. The homegirl of all homegirls. 

I have also been still having a little bit of a struggle with mental health!! This week was kinda rough because honestly sometimes it has been suuuper hard to get out of bed and have energy to do anything, and to feel joy in my life. I have been learning a lot from this trial, though!! Mostly that it's okay if we don't feel happy all the time. Actually, that is the point of life-- if we were happy all the time, there would be no happiness. I am grateful that God is teaching me this lesson, and teaching me to savor and truly, gratefully, and whole-heartedly acknowledge the moments of Joy and the miracles He still rains down on me, notwithstanding my limitations, weaknesses, and setbacks. It has been kind of hard to admit that I have been going through this, but I wanted to say that even when I am feeling so sad and depressed for no reason, God still sends miracles and allows me to take part, if even just a tiny part, in His work!! If any of y'all are going through something similar, just know that things will surely get better. Even when it feels like you are in the depths of sadness and nothing will ever change, Jesus Christ is right there with you!!! Actually, He descended below that. Do I understand how? No. Do I know how to utilize this fully in my life? noooo! 


A highlight of this week was when the Martinez Family came to church!!! 
a "trememdous miracle" as our dear friend Elder Baquedano would say. The are seriously the coolest people I have met in my entire life. Basically a blessing that fell out of the sky... I feel like she is one of those people that I somehow knew before this life ya know what I mean? 

I am going to stay here in Bear Creek for another 6 weeks with Hermana Sagers. I don't know her very well but I have heard nothing but excellent things about her! I am excited. 
i am very sad to be leaving Hermana Huerta:(. As our best friend Miss Clifton says "WHY ARE YOU SEPARATING FROM ME????" I will miss her lots but Mount Pleasant will take care of her:) love that place.

Hello, such a rejuvenating and powerful week!! I am grateful for  -Hermana Huerta -the city of Garland - People from Monterrey -the fantastic members of this ward I get to be surrounded by -biiiiig skies and yummy clouds -tamales -thrift stores and learning to budget -my basket on my bike -friends - making everyday comparisons to the Gospel - the ability to run  - and much more!! WILL WE SURVIVE THE ABUELITAS?!!? | 9.17.18

Buenos dias mis amigos!! Another killer week here in Garland. Hermana Casper's mom asked if the honeymoon phase of our companionship has ended yet, NOPE still best of friends. I love my companion so much sometimes when we are separated for like a few seconds (like when she plays the hymns in sacrament meeting) I get sad because I miss her haha. i am content so many funny things happened this week. STUFF THAT I LEARNED At least as a missionary, the spirit is most of the time the same thing as your thoughts. A lot of people and missionaries talk about guidance from the spirit as being some slightly mystical, magnetic force that guides them. It's not like that, at least for me. I have seen multiple miracles this week (knocking on a door of a stranger and all 3 of us ending up in happy tears, finding a random 20 y/o who is way stoked on the gospel when we decided to knock on a completely random door, running into people at the grocery store who my companion has been ...

WEEK 2! | 8.24.18

Talofa mis amigos!!! Still doin just gr8 over here at the MTC. It is actually a very special place!!! It's like an uplifting cosmopolitan melting pot with mediocre food!!! I am in a branch with almost all international kids because we all already know English and the language we will be speaking on our missions. It has been one of my favorite parts about the MTC so far actually which I am super grateful for because I was initially kind of bummed about not being in a Spanish learning district like I was expecting to be in (basically all my classes are in English but I'll still be speaking Spanish once I get to Dallas). I'm meeting the coolest and most interesting people ever i love them a lot. There are people in my branch from Albania, Brazil, Samoa, Mexico, Colombia, Ukraine/Canada, and more. They have such cool stories and are really inspiring and amazing people. I think missionary work is so cool because these super young people are so inspiring to me!!! I've bee...
