I LIVE IN THE WOODS | 01.14.19

hellooooooo

this week was the week equivalent of being placed inside a blender, and then the blender being turned on the (pulse) setting

ya feel?

EAST TEXAS LIFESTYLE

Texas is sooooooo cool. it's wild out here. I am in very classic boonies now.  here are some assorted descriptions that may help you get a pretty good feel of where I now live:
- roadkill every 1/4 mile
- they say "supper" and not "dinner"
- my address is 3625 CR 3070 Cookville, Texas 75558
CR means "county road"
- in order to get into town, we take a road called "farm to market"
- We have been chased by various loose dogs
- Vultures are circling ALWAYS. jaja.
- most of downtown is surrounding a chicken plant called Pilgrims, sometimes when I get lost driving we somehow end up there and it's so funny. Slightly scary also.
- 2 types of people: those who glare at you with a mean face and a dog behind them drooling at you and jumping almost over their fence and don't even let you give them a card (run) (quicck), and everyone else who is just so TICKLED to talk to us. It's amazing!!!
- Mt. Pleasant is actually an insanely adorable town. The little downtown square is probably the cutest downtown I have ever been to. \(-.-)/

HAPPENNINGS

- this ward is amazing. the people here are so nice. One lady immediately recognized me from Hermana Casper's group email!!! I felt like a superstar!! (hermana casper if you are reading this I love you)
- We had zero access to our planner, map, any contacts of anyone in the area, or any people currently being taught in this area for the first 3 days!! it was crazy!! so we went knocking on a lot of doors and saw many miracles!! I am grateful for that. It was really amazing, and I would love to describe in more detail but there are only 5 minutes and 27 seconds left on this library computer SORRY FOLKS! stay tuned for next week I suppose. But I can just share my knowledge that God can make magnificent things happen thorough very imperfect and under qualified people.
- we live in the coolest house in the woods ever!! We are so spoiled. We live with some really amazing members of the ward. We get to run through the woods and do yoga to the sunrise. it is exquisite.

MY NEW COMPANION IS AMAZING

HERMANITA LUNT!! she is such a rock star. words I would use to describe Hermana Lunt:
- in tune
- kind
- bighearted
- conscientious
- a master teacher
she is from California, and is tall, and so cute. We have so much fun together. She is patient with me because I don't know what I am doing a lot of the time :) I love hanging out with her and I really do feel like I have lucked out!!

SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT

such a rich week. I have learned so much from my dear new companion. She is fresh out of the MTC but I really do think she teaches me way more than I pretend to teach her. I was reading through one of my old notebooks, and read this killer quote from someone somewhere: "The Lord can do more with someone who WANTS TO than someone who CAN" this hit me real hard. I want to be the best missionary I possibly can be!! And I want to be the best example I can for this amazing soul I am with every day. I don't feel exactly ready for this task, but I know that the Lord will (and has already) qualified me for what is ahead, as insecure as I may feel at times!

Another thing I have been reflecting on has been the fact that God will NEVER break His promises. I have been trying to meditate a bit on what promises He has already offered to me... there are so many, and they are truly rich and opulent blessings he is wanting to let loose on us... both now, and in the eternities. I have been trying to read the scriptures as if someone were speaking directly to me... because, truly, that is the way it is.

A CHALLENGE

study your scriptures every morning with a question that you write down. then, seek for your answer through your study. This is something that Hermana Lunt has taught me to do. It has helped me get so much more out of reading the scriptures!

I love you all so so much.

les mando un abrazo<3
