CHERRY YUM YUM | 01.28.19

the reason for this title is because well we were served cherry yum yum pie not once but TWICE this week

I really like living in rural Texas for this period of my life!!!

THE HIGHLIGHTS/ PERRITOS

- Our 2 friends Luis and Andrea are going to get baptized and we are SO EXCITED!! THEY ARE the coolest kids ever.
- soaking up the clean country air and being surrounded by happy fluffy cows!!! eeeeee
- were chased by dogs probably more times than I can count. One time we were walking though Mount Vernon and looked to our right, to see a HUGE grey pitbull sprinting full speed at us. We were absolutely terrified and then it just stopped mid-sprint right at the edge of the lawn, as if it had whacked into a glass wall. Shock Collar? Angels? Tender Mercy? who knows, but we defs are protected out here.
- on the plus side the people we live with have 2 Red Heelers and we just discovered they are super nice and they also have a really funny white old chihuahua named Amy who always wears a white hand knit sweater. It's the little things!!!
- confirmed the theory that every small town in east Texas is insanely adorable. Lucky us, our area is big enough that we have at least 2 little downtowns in our area complete with quaint marble-clad libraries, light-strung alleyways, pinterest worthy coffee shops... v nice! this was a surprise to me:):)

THINGS OF THE SPIRIT

a thought that came into my head as I was falling asleep last night:
the Spanish word for "sunflower" is "girasol". the word "girar" means "to turn", "sol" means "sun". I love sunflowers a lot and I love that word in Spanish, because I, too am learning to turn to the sun, or, the son of God (who is the source of all light!)

The other day I woke up feeling... heavy! Y'all have those days? and then I realized that was yearning for more light, and more lighten-ing of my burdens. I poured out my heart in prayer, and studied in the scriptures (Doctrine and Covenants- sooo good. section 9 was where I was reading), and went outside to our little patio to ponder/write. Something that God was trying to teach me was to "be patient, my [daughter], for it is wisdom in me." I was filled with deep, real joy as I sat there with the sun on my face, listening to the birds, and watching the cows graze. We are children of the creator of this universe and He wants us to succeed. we need to turn to the sun, necessitamos ser como un girasol!!! y volver otra vez a la fuente de la luz.

Even when times are hard Jesus will extend to us His grace. For me a lot of times that is through those moments of clarity and rich joy that are completely unmerited and unexpected

¡A CHALLENGE!

have dinner with someone new this week. Go out and buy something, or cook something yummy together. It is really special eating with people you love.
(one of the fun facets and blessings of missionary life is that we get to eat dinner and then have a spiritual discussion nearly every day, and I want you guys to experience it too)

¡les quiero mucho! que pasen una bonita semana☆♡
