Neither of us are getting transferred
I'm so happy
I think she is secretly sad to be stuck with me also she has been in Garland since may but I am very happy because we are tight, plus, this area is so sweet
FOOD
- we ate with this way funny family named the ascencio's this week. basically, this is what happened: I ate an entire serrano pepper, their abuelita repeatedly ran into the kitchen to show me a variety of different tortilleras, and hna casper was repeatedly ROASTED by the entire fam the whole time. it was super chill, except for the fact that i was slightly sweating the entire time, because i ate a whole serrano pepper!!!
but hey
that spice tolerance is getting preeeetty high
-tried banana leaf tamales YUMM
- made some yummy vegetables. Basically we try to eat almost exclusively vegetables for breakfast and lunch because dinner is massive and so good and usually consists of stuff like chicharron, tortillas, pupusas, enchiladas, a mountain of Mexican rice, beans, agua de pepino, tamales, etc. etc. i am content in this place
MISSION NEWS
- Elder Holland is literally coming to speak to us and the Fort Worth mission in person at the chapel where I go to church every Sunday. WHAAA it is crazy, basically he is one of the 12 apostles and a celebrity a little bit. It will be really cool to see someone in person whose talks I have grown up reading and living by. I am also a little bit scared bc I heard he can be super intense! but a very great opportunity for our mission
- it's cold now.
i am not prepared
i brought one (1) very thin sweater bc I thought texas wouldbe so hot always
it's actually FREEZING right now
but it's really nice, i like the cold
- I finally got my janky bike fixed. These are the things I got for my bike that it did not have before:
1. a front tire that is the same size as the back tire
2. brakes on the front
3. brakes on the back
4. a basket woooo it's sweet
so it got some new additions to my ride and I luv it so much
- we found 2 really amazing families this week. I am excited to continue teaching them.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
I have been working on becoming more like Jesus Christ, not just changing my behavior but myself to be more kind, loving, humble, hardworking, etc. There is no way I can become this way on my own. The good news of this gospel is that Jesus Christ can, and wants to transform us into a better being!!!
it's really amazing and it is the purpose of our life to progress and learn and grow to become like Him alongside the people that we love.
So I have been trying to make this principle more real to me. If anyone has any tips, let me know. But I have been trying to do this through frequent, sincere prayer, studying Christlike attributes (this week: Humility), and being more present in everything I do. The last part is really cool and interesting to me. I am a firm believer that we can always do our best work and feel the guidance of God in our lives when we are perfectly present (thanks mom for teaching me this). Ways I can feel more present is when I do a lil yoga in the AM, focus on deep breathing, drink a lot of water, enjoy riding my bike, and practice listening to people intently. It's really cool how this principle of presence is interconnected with other religions/schools of thought as well. Truth is everywhere.
here is a poignant scripture I stumbled upon during my studies, that was very thought provoking!
Isaiah 55:9, 12
"For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts... For ye shall go out with joy, and be led forth with peace: the mountains and the hills shall break forth before you into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands."
ah. very beautiful. the fruits of the gospel are sweeter than anything this world has to offer. and I am seeing that to be more and more true every day of my life.
A CHALLENGE!
get a piece of paper or a notebook, and begin writing about something you are curious about or are trying to learn more about. It could be a personal development thing, it could be a phenomenon in your life you are confused about, a piece of doctrine you don't understand, whatever you want to explore more.
then just keep writing
keep writing about how you feel,
write about what you already know
try to keep writing even after you think you've written all you can.
I have found that usually this is when the Holy Ghost (basically inspiration sent from God) can kick in, and start to reveal to you what you know, and even teach you more.
This is something I have been trying to do recently, and it's a way I can really focus my attention on something and explore a train of thought really well. It has helped me reach new spiritual frontiers, it is my way of meditation/pondering and it's pretty effective for me!
give it a go, if you'd like
that's me currently
a request:
please send me any workout tips/workouts you have, that can be done in 30 mins or less with the following equipment: a pull up bar, 3 therabands, a basketball court, a tennis court
I would love it dearly if u sent me ideas
But hey guess who started going running? Me? I didn't hate it? Hna Casper is gonna get me using more than 2% of my lung capacity finally?
