WHAT IS TIME | 8.31.18
hola hermanos y hermanas,
guess what
I leave the mtc this MONDAY. so soon, what the heck????!?!?!
I will be so sad to leave
I love it here so much.
You can say hi to anyone in any language at any time and they all respond. People here are so friendly and you can go up and start talking to someone about the gospel and get into a super deep and inspiring discussion. It's this weird environment where so many good things are happening but I also know that I will never be in a place even remotely like this ever again in my life? Such a special time. I know that I have already grown so much in my understanding of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It has been amazing to teach and be taught with the Spirit and realize how powerfully it can deliver truth directly to our hearts.
On a less sappy note:
my branch is NUMBER ONE
I LOVE THEM
okay first off, we (me and Sister Leota) have a new companion now, Sister Garcia who is, in all ways except physical, Allie. But also different. she is from Spanish Fork and grew up speaking Spanish. We're tight. We laugh so hard at everything and she makes me v happy.
It's so fun because there are so many latinos in my branch and like one elder from France and a few other assorted places but it's so funny because we all always talk in Mexican accents 99% of the time. Very good training for my mission haha.
Today was my last Pday at the MTC so we all went to the sand volleyball courts across from the mtc. sooooo fun. the sand was muyyyy caliente but GUESS WHAT?! I AM GETTING BETTER AT VOLLEYBALL I think that the most important thing I learned is that i am approx. 50x better at volleyball on sand courts than on regular courts. Vball was so fun and i was laughing so hard at the stuff my branch was saying, however, also, I understand that my sense of humor is extremely misaligned and very sensitive and trying to explain any of the jokes would be highly ineffective!! But yep very good times. We also got to go to the temple and I ran into my fav Korean sister who is here at the MTC learning english! so tender. See attached photo.
Also we got a new district in our branch!! Since my companion and I are sister training leaders we get to kind of take care of the new sisters and make sure they're doing okay!! I am so impressed with them. It's v nice for me because 3/4 of them are native Spanish speakers and they let me practice my Spanish with them!!! They are so stoked to be here and are adjusting so beautifully and have already started to see how precious this time at the MTC can be... even the first few days which can be full of emotion and adjustment for most.
By far my favorite part of the MTC has been the spiritual development I've been able to nurture. I feel like these grounds are sacred. I feel very in tune with myself and focused, really different than most settings. It's amazing. I think that a big part of this comes from the fact that there are literally 2,000+ people working around the clock to transform themselves into something better so they can become better instruments in the hands of our creator. It's so humbling to be surrounded by them. It's like this huge up welling of communal faith and love that you can feel coming off of the people.
I had a bit of a realization today during class about how much power we can receive through the Holy Ghost. "Angels speak by the power of the Holy Ghost; wherefore, they speak the words of Christ. Wherefore, I said unto, feast upon the words of Christ; for behold, the words of Christ will tell you all things what ye should do. Wherefore, now after I have spoken these words, if ye cannot understand them it will be because ye ask not, neither do ye knock; wherefore, ye are not brought into the light, but must perish in the dark." (2 Nephi 32:3-4).
Answers are present all around us. I find them in the book of Mormon and through prayer. We have to seek them. Sometimes this seeking can be inconvenient or uncomfortable. It might be an answer we have been looking for for so long that we feel like giving up, or it might be something that's been nagging us slowly and we haven't wanted to confront. Or maybe we are afraid of the answer. But it is so important to seek answers to these questions!! Look to the light and you can find answers to life's confusions. Once you take the first step towards that answer you will recieve more and more light.
I love you all!!! I will be in Dallas on Monday, it's wild!! My Pday from now on will probably be on Monday.
plsssssssss send me emails!!!!! anytime!!! specifically memes!!! or just updates about your life I would love nothing more than to hear from you
