BLAZING NEEDLES | 12.10.18

my companion has knit one hat every day the last 4 days.  she is a KEEPER,  that little ELF! let me explain: So last week. I slaved away in the Family History Center for probably 47ish minutes!! Crafting an absolutely pristine group email. Photos, everything. and then somehow I DELETED IT?  AT 5:55 ? Okay well my phone OS is in Spanish and I may or may not be entirely illiterate when it comes to technological vocabulary in Spanish. This may be a small piece of the issue. But THERE WAS NO WAY OUT OF THIS MESS it was so so sad. So alas here is the long awaited updated from yours truly I know I kept y'all on the edge of your seats jaja gotta keep the suspense high!!! EVENTS THAT HAPPENED THIS WEEK achtttt okay 2 weeks that's like the equivalent of a year in normal time. I will recount a very small amount of a few tender moments that I can recall from the past week.  1. my companion spotted a hawk on a telephone wire. I was very happy to have had ...

Guess who gets to stay in her favorite ward with a new fun compa?!?!?! Ok I put so many ?!'s to hide the fact that I am also kind of broken on the inside because my best friend Hermana Casper is getting shipped out to Nacgadoches? I have no idea how to spell it and I don't even really want to learn how because I don't have good feelings toward that place bc it's stealing my homie? ah but actually, I've heard that is a gr8 area with many Hispanics to chat with. She will be amazing but I am sad. Also all of the hermanas in the ward are heartbroken that she is leaving, and then I'm just still here, like,  hi,  I'm the one you don't like as much yea ella se fue I am sorry too I know she was the best I get that she was the superior companion it's an adjustment for all of us ok?????????? jajaja  but I am VERY grateful to stay here for another transfer. I am very happy here. and, my new companion is super awesome- Hermana Castan...

PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE | 11.5.18

we had interviews w/ pres and a c00l district meeting this week. Some elders in my district were explaining a how someone yelled at them for many minutes when they knocked on their door and one of the elders described it as "psychological warfare".  I thought it was a really funny phrase also it kind of applies in missionary work frequently like, we had this suuuuper awesome girl we were working with. We would talk to her every day, she loved reading the Book of Mormon, had really inquisitive questions, asked if she could please come watch General Conference with us (um, yes?), you get the idea. We loved her. Then basically, she dropped off the face of the earth for like 3 weeks. We were so so sad. and we kept analyzing what we had done, if we had somehow offended her, maybe she didn't like the brownies we brought to her house, maybe her siblings are making up rumors about us, maybe she joined a cult, our minds were going crazy! bc we love her so much and then she disap...

QUE TAL??? | 10.22.18

Hello my dear friends,  A few stories:    1. Tuesday night, 1:15 a.m. hermana Casper and I sleeping soundly, and suddenly our phone rang. I do super annoying things in my sleep sometimes, and naturally I, 3/4 of the way asleep, grabbed the phone, didn't look at who was calling, answered it, and did nothing else. By this point, hermana Casper was awake and cognitively  functional enough to look at the name that was calling and start talking. It was our old friend Salvador, who loves us and the church at ton, but mostly because he likes saying 10+ minute long very excessive and eloquent prayers to us over the phone. He was calling us and just goes "hola hermanas puedo decir una oracion, muy rapio..." and hna. Casper was like SALVADOR NO WE WERE ASLEEP IM SORRY THIS IS NOT A GOOD TIME yes ok fine call us later it is 1 am ok bye Salvador.  It was so funny because I'm pretty sure I just grabbed the phone, answered it, and went back to sleep. 2. We had din...

ANDALE, PUES | 10.29.18

Buenos dias!!!!! Very nice weather over here in Garland. The last few days have been like 70 and sunny and prime bike weather.  THINGS PEOPLE SAID  - "que Hermosa, la juventud..." ("how beautiful, youth...")(our favorite abuelita from El Salvador when we handed her a kind of ghetto photo of ourselves we printed off)  -"ANDALE, PUES" SO many people here say this but we haven't really noticed until this week. It's super funny because I have always thought that "andale" just means "get going" but apparently it also means like "goodbye/take care" I am pretty sure? But it was very funny because it was always older Mexican dudes that would always say it as we were hanging up and so to me I kept thinking they were saying "go away" but in a super friendly tone of voice. So now we always say on the it was when we hang up the phone with anyone - ok there is a very sweet solita abuelita we have been ...
